2008 Summer Camp Program

 

Discovery 1 - IT’S ABOUT RELATIONSHIP Genesis 2:4b-22
Focus: Campers will hear and explore the story of God creating the first garden and be invited into relationship with God and each other and learn to care for God’s creation Campers will: \

  • Be introduced to ways they can grow in a relationship with God.

  • Discover connectedness within camp and settle in.

  • Explore ways they can care for creation at camp.

Discovery 2 IT’S ALL GOOD Genesis 1:1-25
Focus: Today, campers will explore the way in which God created order out of chaos and hear about the goodness of God’s creation. Campers will:

  • Continue to discover order within camp life.

  • Celebrate the goodness of creation.

  • Appreciate the variety of creation within camp.

Discovery 3 - IT’S A MATTER OF CHOICE Genesis 6:11-9:17
Focus: Today, campers will explore ways they keep and break promises with God, creation, and others Campers will:

  • Explore how they make choices.

  • Explore ways they keep and break promises with creation and others.

  • Celebrate God’s faithfulness.

Discovery 4 - IT’S ABOUT TRUST Luke 12:13-32
Focus: Today, campers will explore the barriers to trusting in God’s provision for all creation and how these fears affect their lives of faith. Campers will:

  • Identify ways to deepen their trust in God and others.

  • Explore consumption and its impact on creation.

  • Recognize the abundance of God’s grace revealed in the natural world at camp.

Discovery 5 - IT’S WHAT WE DO Matthew 25:14-30
Focus: Campers will identify the gifts God has given them and they will consider ways they can be faithful stewards in caring for creation Campers will:

  • Name the gifts they bring that will help them care for the earth.

  • Identify and challenge barriers to working cooperatively to care for creation.

  • Invest in acts of stewardship that reflect creation care in community.

Discovery 6: IT’S GOOD NEWS Mark 16:9-20
Focus: Campers will explore ways to proclaim, in word and action, the new life revealed to us in Christ, which is good news for all of creation. Campers will:

  • Identify and celebrate the new life around them.

  • Name ways they can live and share the good news that is for all creation.

  • Prepare to go home through bringing closure to the community.

Mission @ the Ridge

During the Summer Session campers will help Mound Ridge Camp and Retreat Center become more environmentally friendly as the recycling program continues, recycle paper, plastics. Campers and staff will maintain a garden and use the produce grown in the garden here on the Ridge for our meals.

 

Incorporated into the nature program will be “Woodworking for Wildlife” building shelters and perches for our feathered friends.

 

 

 

New Shuttle Service

A new service for campers will be added this summer.

  • Upon registration a space will be provided “shuttle please”.

  • The shuttle cost will be an additional $30.00 per person. (separate check required)

  • Schedule for weeklong camp sessions

    • Pickup on Sunday will be 2:00pm.

  • Schedule for half week sessions

    • New Discoveries session:
      Pickup on Sunday will be 2:00pm.

    • Boys will be Boys session
      Pickup on Wednesday will be 2:00pm.

Shuttle service is not offered for Family Camp.
